From KAREN BROWN's TRAVEL GUIDE TO IRELAND:

"Hawthorn House offers visitors an attractive guesthouse with an especially gracious hostess, Mary O'Brien. Inside, the old house has received a complete face-lift with light pine replacing all the old woodwork and doors. The contemporary decor is light and attractive. Breakfast is the only meal served, since Kenmare has a plethora of restaurants and pubs. Mary will be happy to make dinner reservations for you. Mary's favourite sightseeing excursion is to Garinish Island, where her husband proposed to her."

Dear Mary,

I am writing to you to express our collective gratitude for your warm and gracious hospitality during our stay in Kenmare last month. As we travelled from the north-east to the south-west and then to the west, our group would rate each of our B&B's on three categories: hospitality, friendliness and proximity to pubs (as wel as other establishments of high culture and learning). I am pleased to inform you and Noel that after 1,200 miles of travel and 3 weeks in your beautiful country, our group has once again (for the third consecutive year) Unanimously voted you and

"Hawthorn House" the Best B&B in the Republic of Ireland.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! See you in two years.

God Bless, Sincerely,

Frank and Pat Landry,
Kevin Landry,
Tim Slatkavitz,
Marc Vaillette,
Jason Grant.
